Keyboard shortcuts
mixr’s shortcuts let you control your audio without opening anything. The mic hotkey in particular works globally — from any app, at any time.
Global shortcuts
These work no matter what app you’re in:
-
Mute / unmute your microphone — ⌥⌘M (default)
The mic hotkey fires even when mixr isn’t focused, so you can kill your mic mid-sentence without switching windows. If a device can’t be software-muted, mixr tells you rather than silently doing nothing. See: The mic kill switch
You can change the mic hotkey in mixr’s settings if the default conflicts with something you use.
In the mixr popover
When mixr is open from the menu bar:
- Reset an app’s volume to normal — double-click its slider
- Mute an app — click its speaker icon
- Pin an app — right-click it and choose Pin
- Quit mixr — ⌘Q
- Close the popover — ⌘W or Esc
Rebinding shortcuts
mixr’s configurable shortcuts live in Settings → Shortcuts. If a hotkey clashes with another app, pick a new combination there.
More shortcuts and Shortcuts-app / Siri support are on the way as mixr grows — including quick actions you can trigger from anywhere on your Mac.
