Installing mixr
mixr is a small, notarized macOS app. Installing it takes about a minute.
Requirements
- macOS 26 or later
- An Apple Silicon Mac
Install
- Download mixr from getmixr.app.
- Open the downloaded
.dmgfile. - Drag mixr into your Applications folder.
- Open mixr from Applications.
Because mixr is notarized by Apple, it opens without security warnings — macOS has already checked it.
Where mixr lives
mixr runs in your menu bar, not the Dock. Look for its icon at the top-right of your screen — click it to open mixr’s controls. There’s no Dock icon and no main window to manage; mixr stays out of your way until you need it.
First launch
The first time you open mixr, it walks you through a short setup — granting the one permission it needs, learning a little about how you’ll use it, and showing you what it found on your system. See: First launch & permissions
Keeping mixr running
mixr works best when it’s always available. During first launch it offers to start automatically when you log in — you can turn that on or off then, or later in settings. It’s offered, never forced.
Uninstalling
mixr leaves nothing behind. Quit it and every app returns to its normal volume immediately. To remove it, quit mixr and drag it from Applications to the Trash. No drivers to uninstall, no system changes to undo.
mixr uses no audio drivers and installs no virtual devices. It’s a normal Mac app — install it, use it, remove it, with nothing lingering.
